I’ve been mulling this over for a bit, and I figured it’s time to share it with you all. I’m making a little shift from cozy mystery sci-fi to straight-up sci-fi mystery. The biggest change? I’ll dial back on all those fun food chats. But don’t worry—I’ll keep the violence low-key and serve up those satisfying puzzles to crack.
So, why the pivot? Well, I jumped into this genre because I absolutely adore it! But honestly, it’s a niche that not many folks are into. I’ve spotted a handful of other writers trying cozy sci-fi, and they only really took off when they switched to something similar.
Plus, I was inspired by some YouTube advice that said, “Write what you love, and the readers will follow.” And a few of you awesome people did show up; I’m so grateful for that! I still have a soft spot for this quirky genre, but I’ve got to focus on stories that more readers are excited to grab.
Sci-fi has always been my true passion, and I’ll keep writing in it no matter what. Swapping from cozy mystery to a more traditional vibe feels like a tiny tweak in the grand scheme.
